Poetry Appreciation

Our very happy group meets once a month on a Wednesday morning (10.30am – 12.30pm). Meetings are held at the Group Leader’s house in Salcombe. Plenty of parking on the road and the bus from Kingsbridge stops at the top of the road.

At each meeting a theme and date for the next meeting are agreed. Sometimes we fix these for two meetings ahead.

At the meeting, everyone comes with poetry related in some way to the theme. They read it to us and we can comment on it and discuss it. We really enjoy sharing our love of poetry.

Recent themes we have covered include Seasonal Poems, War Poetry, Love, Food, Music, Gardens, Endings, Colours, Travel, Poets on Poets, Home, Poets from particular periods, Poets previously unknown to us, Moon and Stars, Asian Poetry, Humorous Verse, The Sea, Trees, Poems on an Historical Event, and many other subjects. The possibilities are endless. Sometimes we are very serious and sometimes we are helpless with laughter.

We have agreed that a total of 9 members is the maximum for a group of this nature. We are currently full but if you are interested in joining and would like to be added to the Waiting List when we are full, please get in touch with me.
