The Greek Myths sessions are on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month from 3.30 to 5.00pm, at 10 Coronation Road, Salcombe.

In 2020, after reading a selection of plays by the playwright Aeschylus, latterly conducting our meetings rather laboriously but quite successfully by email, we plan to continue by reading a play from the other two great ancient Athenian playwrights: "Alcestis" by Euripides and "Antigone" by Sophocles

We are a small friendly group, not at all erudite or intimidating, and we would welcome new members. No previous knowledge of the subject is required, but you will be surprised how many names and stories will be familiar. If you are interested I would recommend reading Mary Renault’s novels as an introduction to the ancient Greek world, particularly ‘The Praise-Singer’, ‘The King must Die’ and ‘The Bull from the Sea’, and also Stephen Fry’s very lively ‘Mythos’.
