Janet Downer

Janet's talk featured local events and legends real and not so real with tales of adventure, murder and maybe a ghost or two. She entertained us with stories of ghostly sightings of a white lady seen at Buckfast Abbey, the mystery of the flowers left on Kitty Jay’s grave, and the adventures of an ancestor of the Carew Pole family who enjoyed life as a gypsy and a swindler, and many other deeds from Devon’s dark and forgotten past.
